Last Minute Tips

March 22nd, 2011 Comment

With only 48 hours to go, the European cities are making sure the last finishing touches are being made to their events. We've therefore been checking up on how the European cities are getting on, in terms of fundraising and ticket sales, through Twitter chats. And we've seen some inspiring activity and received some great tips for other cities who might be struggling slightly, so we hope this will help!

@Milantwestival went to the city centre where they were promoting Twestival selling soapbubbles! Check out their flickr slideshow.

@Twestivalbcn have been very good at asking around locally for sponsors and collaborators.

@aaltwestival are also doing well in terms of fundraising and they recommend that you make sure you use your personal network and ask companies in your primary network.

@cphtwestival have created this fantastic website for further publicity and they have also recommended to use the Facebook event function since that has made it possible to reach non-Twitter users. And with more people knowing about the event it has been easier to invite friends that were unaware of Twestival previously.

@twestivalhh have also been using other social networks to reach further and another tip from the Hamburg team is to simply use word-of-mouth and tell friends, family and colleagues.

@Twestival13 recommends using ambassadors since they've helped the Marseille team spread the word online through RTs and blog posts.

We've heard some inspiring updates in the last few days and definitely recommend you getting in contact with specific cities for additional advice and tips! And let us know if you are having any problems! Also remember to tell people that even if they can't make it to your event they can still donate to the cause!

Good luck!

Promoting Your Twestival Local Event

March 16th, 2011 Comment

With just over one week 'til Twestival Local 2011 all cities are working on the final touches to their events and ticket sales are starting to happen. The main focus now for the next eight days will be to raise awareness of the different events in order to sell as many tickets as possible to raise as much money as possible to the local causes. Tell your friends about your local event and tell them to tell their friends. Tweet and ask your followers to tweet about it. Blog about your event and let local bloggers know about Twestival. Interact with local online communities - is there a University network in your city that might want to get involved? Or maybe there's even a local paper that might be interested in hearing your story? If so, tell them! For those of you in need of additional promotional tools, the Twestival team has created this brand new animation that we can all start using to spread awareness of Twestival Local 2011. Check it out and spread the word!
